Built-in 1961, the Civic Arena is known as the first major sports venue with a retractable roof. It was first built for the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, but the Pittsburgh Penguins would join them in 1967. The stadium's nickname was The Igloo because of its Igloo like shape.
