The Bethlehem Steel Company's roots trace all the way back to 1857, but the company did not become official until 1903. For most of the 20th Century, this steel company was one of the largest steel-producing and shipping companies in the world. In the 1960s, the Bethlehem Steel Company and the Bethlehem Steel Corporation merged and became the Bethlehem Steel Corporation.
