Tom Brady Announces Retirement… Again

Feelings of deja vu are swirling today as NFL legend Tom Brady once again announces his retirement from the league. Even crazier that Brady proclaimed on this exact day last year that he was retiring, only to come out of retirement a little over a month later. The 45-year old football star seems to have these retirements planned out, with both coming shortly before the showdown that is the Super Bowl. It would even appear as if Brady is trying to take the spotlight and steer the attention of the public away from the upcoming matchup and instead onto himself. Although, it does seem that this announcement will be the last from Brady. He seems certain in his words, stating that this time it is “for good”. Brady even acknowledges last year's announcement, which is even more a reason to believe him this time around. He even decided to take to twitter first, posting a video publicly announcing his retirement. If this truly is the end for Brady, then he is leaving the sport in G.O.A.T. fashion. Brady played a remarkable 23 seasons in the NFL, winning a whopping seven Super Bowl championships. He entered the league in 2000 as an 199th overall pick after being chosen by the New England Patriots. Brady started as a no-name backup to Drew Bledsoe. After being dealt an injury in Week 2 of the 2001 season, Brady was sent in. In only his Sophomore year, he ended up taking the Patriots all the way to the Super Bowl, where they would defeat the Rams to obtain their first Lombardi trophy in the history of the organization. After an unbelievable career start, Brady went on to win five more championships with the Patriots. He spent twenty long years with the Patriots, before deciding to move on from the team. Then, in 2020, Brady signed a two-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where in only his first year, he would obtain his seventh championship ring after leading the team past the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. Brady finished his career with an outstanding stats list, such as being the all time NFL leader in both passing touchdowns as well as passing yards. He is considered to be the greatest to ever play the game by many, and there is not much room to argue. Brady and the impact he had on the game will never be forgotten. He is forever an icon and an inspiration for all.
