Sixers Lose Last Two, Injuries Continue to Linger
The recent road trip has not been kind to the Sixers. After back-to-back games against the Warriors and the Suns over the weekend, the team suffered two unexpected losses. The Sixers had been dominant on the road this season, making the defeats even more surprising. Despite recent success, the team is currently facing injury concerns with some of its key players. Joel Embiid had to leave the game against the Chicago Bulls last Wednesday at halftime due to an issue with his calf. However, he bounced back with a spectacular performance on Friday against the Warriors, putting up 46 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Although he scored a more modest 28 points against the Suns the following night, he still grabbed 10 rebounds. Unfortunately, his calf issues continue to be a burden and it does not seem that he will be playing in the upcoming game against the Nuggets Monday night. As playoffs draw near, it is wise for Embiid to rest and recuperate if needed. Remarkably, Embiid holds the top spot for most 30-point games this season with 43, surpassing Luka Doncic who has 42. It's clear that Embiid is the glue that holds this Sixers team together, as he is a true powerhouse on the court. Without him, the team would not be the same. James Harden, another key player for the Sixers, missed both games this weekend due to an Achilles issue. However, he should return in time for playoffs, and his extended absence is likely due to the team wanting him to recover fully. Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey continues to impress with a 37-point performance against the Suns, shooting 14-19 from the field and 7-11 from 3-point range. Tobias Harris has also been performing nicely with a 23-point game against the Warriors, shooting 10-12 from the field and knocking down his only 3-point attempt of the game. The Sixers need all their starters to be healthy, as well as consistency from the bench. Although the team has experienced disappointment in the last two games, they have eight games left to turn things around. A win over the Denver Nuggets on Monday night in Denver would be an excellent way to start.
.@TyreseMaxey scores 21 first-half points, including 5-7 from three-point range. Maxey joins @Holla_At_Rob33 (8) and @jj_redick (5) as the only @sixers players ever to make at least five threes in a half four or more times since at least 96-97.
